FAQ
Frequently asked, honestly answered.
Most of these come up before someone books their first reading. If your question isn't here, write to me and I'll get back to you.
About the readings
What you're actually getting.
What exactly is a saju reading?
Saju (四柱) means “four pillars” — the year, month, day, and hour you were born, expressed as eight characters in classical Korean cosmology. Each character carries an element and a polarity, and together they form a map of the tendencies you were born into. I read that map and write what I see: your strengths, your patterns, the seasons your life moves through. It's not fortune-telling. It's a way to understand yourself more clearly.
Who actually reads my chart?
I do. The chart calculation uses traditional saju formulas — the same ones Korean readers have used for centuries. The interpretation is read and finalized by me personally, shaped around the question you asked. Just what I see when I sit with your chart.
What's the difference between the free chart, Pro, and Compatibility?
The free chart is a chart snapshot — your day master, your four pillars, your element balance, and a short basic reading, generated instantly the moment you submit your birth details. Free, no signup. Three Answers answers three specific questions you bring — career, relationships, money, whichever three — in one email, written by Sun. Compatibilityreads two charts together — yours and a partner's. The value isn't one chart twice, it's the harmony and friction between you. Includes a written analysis plus follow-up questions in the same thread.
Do you send anything ongoing?
Yes — a free monthly fortune. Run your free chart and leave your email, and once a month I send a short read on how the season sits against your specific chart — the shape of the month ahead, not a generic horoscope. Free, and one click to unsubscribe.
Your birth details
What I need from you.
What if I don't know my birth time?
That's fine. Check the “time unknown” box and I'll read three pillars instead of four. The hour pillar covers inner desires and your relationship with children or legacy, so that part will be lighter — but the rest of the reading is still complete and meaningful.
How precise does the time need to be?
An hour either way is usually fine. Even just knowing morning, afternoon, or evening lets me work with a reasonable estimate. The twelve earthly branches in saju each cover a 2-hour window, so that level of precision is enough.
Does my birth country affect the reading?
Yes — and this is one place where saju is more precise than most people expect. The classical calendar is based on solar time, not clock time. Depending on where you were born, your local time may differ from true solar time by up to 30 minutes — enough to shift the hour pillar in borderline cases. I also apply a seasonal adjustment for people born in the Southern Hemisphere, where the same calendar date carries opposite seasonal energy. Your country (and city if you know it) lets me make these corrections accurately.
Getting the most from your reading
How to ask a good question.
How should I phrase my questions?
Two things make a question sharp. First, be specific, not open— instead of “tell me about my money,” give me the situation you're actually weighing. A vague question can only get a vague answer back, because I have to guess which thread to pull. Second, ask for direction, not prediction. Most people ask “when is my best time?”, but that only leaves you waiting. The chart is far more useful when you ask “where should I lean, right now, with what I already have?” That shift — from what will happen to where do I put my weight— is the biggest upgrade you can make to a reading. There's a full guide with before-and-after examples if you want to go deeper.
What kind of questions can I ask?
Anything shaped like “where should I lean?” rather than “what will happen?” Some examples, by area of life:
- Understanding yourself: Where do my natural strengths sit, and where do I tend to waste my energy?
- Career: Are the strengths in my chart actually being used in the work I do now? If not, how do I put them to work?
- Timing & decade cycles (대운): What are the upsides — and the things to watch — in my current luck cycle? What should I prepare before the next one arrives?
- Money: What shape does wealth take in my chart, and what habit or environment would help me draw more of it?
- Relationships: What kind of person suits me, where do I tend to clash, and who tends to be a genuine ally in my chart?
- Filling the gap: Where is my chart lacking, and how do I fill that to draw better luck toward me?
Feng Shui consulting
Questions about space readings.
Do I need a saju reading to get a feng shui consultation?
No — they're separate services. If you have a saju reading, I can integrate your element map into the space reading, which adds another layer. But your space stands on its own. There's plenty to read from a room without a chart.
I rent and can't make structural changes. Is there still value?
Most of the consultation is about arrangement, not renovation. Bed direction, desk placement, what you see first when you walk in, where the light falls. You don't need to knock down walls or move plumbing. Almost everything is about how you place what's already there.
How does the free photo read work?
Upload one photo of your space and your email address on the Feng Shui page. I review every submission personally and reply with a short read — usually 1–2 paragraphs of what I notice — within 48 hours. It's free. It's a way for you to see how I look at a space before committing to a full consultation.
What is the 3D remapping, exactly?
I rebuild your room from your photos using a Korean interior app, then rearrange the layout according to feng shui principles and send you several “after” versions showing what the changes would actually look like. You receive visuals, not just instructions.
Which space should I photograph?
The one you spend the most time in. Bedroom, home office, and living room — in that order — tend to show the most. A wide shot works best. Natural light if you have it, but it's not required.
Ordering & delivery
How it gets to you.
How long does it take?
Once you submit your birth details, your reading is delivered within 48 hours as a PDF by email. Most go out faster than that.
How do I receive my reading?
Pay → enter your birth details → I read your chart → PDF lands in your inbox. You can also download it any time from your order status page, which is linked in your confirmation email.
I didn't get the email.
Check spam first. If it's not there, the order status page (linked in your confirmation email) lets you download directly. Or just write to me and I'll resend.
Payment & refund
The money side.
What payment methods do you accept?
Readings are ordered through my Etsy shop, so you can use any payment method Etsy accepts — cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Etsy gift cards. Etsy processes the payment; I never see your card details.
Do you offer refunds?
Full refund if you cancel before I've started writing. After delivery I generally can't refund, but if something is genuinely wrong with the reading, write to me. I'd rather make it right than have you unhappy.
Other
A few more.
Can I get my reading in Korean?
Right now everything is in English. A Korean version is on the roadmap.
Do you do couple or compatibility readings?
Not yet. Single-person readings only for now. Compatibility (궁합) readings are something I'll add later this year.
Can I order another reading later?
Of course. Many people come back when life shifts — a new job, a relationship question, a season change. Same chart, different lens. Just pick whichever reading fits the moment.
Still have a question?
I read every email myself. Or pick a reading if you're ready.
